José María Casado, born in Segovia (Spain) in 1957, has been working with wood for more than three decades. In his search for new applications for lacquers, this professional varnisher entered the world of painting in 2012.

With a long career in antique furniture restoration, he found in painting a space for creative freedom where gesture, movement, and experimentation with different textures and finishes play a central role. His work is also characterized by a deep commitment to sustainability, using mainly recycled materials. Varnishes, lacquers, and wood continue to be his favorite elements, integrated into his own constantly evolving visual language.
